What Is 24ct Gold Plating?
24ct gold is the purest form of gold 99.9% pure, with no alloys mixed in. Gold plating applies a layer of this pure gold onto a base material (in our case, high-quality metal) using an electrochemical process. The result is a piece that looks, feels, and shines like solid gold, at a fraction of the cost.
Not all gold plating is equal. The thickness of the gold layer, the quality of the base preparation, and the finishing process all determine how long the piece will last and how good it will look.
Our Process
At Gifted Simply, we use a solution containing 8 grams of solid 24ct gold per litre — a significantly higher concentration than standard gold plating processes. Here's what happens at each stage:
- Surface preparation (3 stages) — The base metal is cleaned, polished, and prepared across three separate stages to ensure the gold bonds perfectly and evenly.
- Multi-layer gold plating — Multiple layers of 24ct gold are applied, building up a finish that's both rich in colour and resistant to wear.
- Mirror-image wax polish — Every piece is finished with a premium wax polish that seals the gold and gives it that distinctive, deep mirror shine.
